Community Schools
in Action

Every community school looks slightly different, because it is developed through mutually beneficial partnerships with students, families, community agencies, businesses, and residents that are unique to that community.

2014 marked the 10th Anniversary of our Community Schools Forum, which we celebrated with nearly 300 of members and supporters! To pay tribute to this milestone we are launching our $10 for 10 Years Campaign. A $10 donation helps the Federation continue providing critical professional development support to community school practitioners and advocating for stable funding for community schools.

In 2014, uncertainty loomed over the future of the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) program; more than two-thirds of community schools were at risk of losing funding to operate. As a result of our collective and sustained efforts, ISBE made critical changes to the 21st CCLC program that enabled our most longstanding and effective community schools to secure continued funding.
This was one of many important wins for community schools, but we know there is much more work to be done in 2015 to ensure all students, regardless of zip code, have equitable access to high quality learning opportunities.

We invite you to take a moment to remember our efforts in 2014, what lies ahead in the coming year, and how you can continue to support the Federation in championing this work across the state.

The Federation's work would not be possible without your support; please consider a donation of any amount to help us continue amplifying the voice and abilities of community schools.

You can make your contribution via credit card by clicking the Donate button above.  If you would prefer to make your donation using a check, please send your payment to:
